El Cuerpo del Deseo (Second Chance)

This telenovela is about second chance or another opportunity at life. Old Don Pedro Donoso, the stupendously wealthy industrialist fell in love with a beautiful, ambitious and scheming young woman who was old enough to be his daughter. Unfortunately, the young woman was not in love with him but his wealth and she ganged up with her lover Andre who happened to be the next in command to the old man.

The story revolved round the old man who died but whose soul entered the body of a younger and stronger peasant farmer. Its the story about reincarnation but for some its appointed for man to die once after that judgement. The telenovela is packed full with telenovelas best actors and actresses. We have Mexican telenovela icon, Andrés García, Mario Cimarro, Lorena Rojas, Martín Karpan and Ana Silvetti etc

The first episode showed Don Pedro Jose Donoso as he woke up from a recurring nightmare. In the nightmare, he's always seeing a young, strong, and hard-working man on a farm. The butler, Walter came, woke him up, reminded him of his wedding to his former secretary Isabel Arroyo and prepared him for the wedding. Isabel too was looking at her self in the mirror while dressing and was happy at the development that in a few hours she would become a powerful and rich woman courtesy of her marriage to a wealthy old man. Her bitchy mother came in but she asked her to leave so that Valeria her cousin can attend to her because of her unsavoury comments.

Gayétana, Pedro spiritual consultant rushed out from her car and was stopped by Walter since Pedro had gone to the study but she pushed him out of the way with her tummy. She then stormed into study to warn him not to proceed with that wedding because he was about to be joined with a venomous serpent. He disagreed with Gayétana and went ahead to break off relationship by paying her off.

At the reception, the other co workers of Isabel knew this facade called 'marriage' would not last. They all agreed that she planned the wedding to the old man only because of his wealth. Andre the secret lover was offended and challenged Liborio to come forward and say it before the couple but they wavwd off his challenge. Angela, Don Pedro's daughter called it 'the worst mistake'. She read the fathers' letter once again in the cab as she was racing home to discourage her father from marrying a gold digger. Pedro had written Angela that he wanted to marry again to banish the loneliness. He further went to say that Isabel was young, beautiful and talented executive in his company. He described her a sincere and selfless woman who want nothing but moral support from him. By the time Angela arrived, the wedding had been concluded, she met them at the reception. It was too late to discourage or stop the wedding. As she alighted from the cab, Pedro saw her so he brought Isabel to be introduced to her but she became antogonistic and asked to speak to the father alone. In the study she lambasted Pedro and he got angry calling her an inconsiderate and selfish girl. Isabel and the mother came to hurry him off to the airport for the honeymoon so Angela told Isabel that she cannot replace her mother because she is phony. Isabel replied that she was not there to replace anyone but to care and love her husband Pedro. (What a schemer ) As argument became hotter between Father and daughter, Angela stomped out of the study and broke off every all relationship with her father, saying: "... forget you ever had a daughter". Pedro could stand the renunciation by his daughter so he ran after her and in the process he suffered another round of heart-attack on the staircase and and fell to the ground. The guests all milled around him and Abigail was ordered to call the ambulance. He was rushed by an Ambulance to the hospital where he was for two days. While recuperating in the hospital, his new 'wife' Isabel visited her lover Andre at the factory for sexual satisfaction. In Andre's office, they engaged in their pastime without minding the conseguences if caught.
The whole household blamed the spoilt and stubborn Angela for the near fatal attack by Pedro but Antonio defended her. She became an outcast and locked herself in.
