When Emiliano came back from Europe and Romina was introduced to him, he liked her because she's fun to be with me. But the spoilt and manipulative teenager was not about to let him walk away especially when she notices that Paloma was interested in him too. Emiliano too loves Paloma but he keeps it to himself because of Inaki. Though he's not in love with Romina, Paloma refuses to accept his love overture because of her friend Romina and the promise they made to each other that a man will not cause their separation. After a while and with Macarena's support, Paloma accepted to be Emilianio's girlfriend.

This did not go down well with Carlota. I wonder why she loves wearing purple. I guess the type of discipline and traditional life style Carlota was brought up with forced her to live an austere life. But something is really wrong with her. Why would she insist on marrying Christobal even when he was wearing cassocks? She really had the town folks fooled with her pious upright attitude and generosity. She would do anything including murder to get what she wants and to conceals secrets. With blackmail, deceit and cruelty, she controls Macarena until she pushed her to her death. For Paloma, Carlota will make sure that she is not out of her control and dominion. To achieve this, she forges and prepares a new will which stipulates that Paloma can not come to her inheritance till 21 instead of immediately. Poor Carlota, she has lived a loveless and bitter life all her life so she ensures that no one from the Espinoza Monteros family is happy. She ensured that Macarena was ever so sickly and needing drugs. She adulterated drugs that she administered on her, With the big secret that Paloma is her daughter that she gave away and the quilt that her father died because of the pregnancy, she had Macarena on leach. When Macarena's health failed and she was rushed to the hospital, she destroyed all the adulterated drugs and started pretending that she cared. Even when her sister she was discharged and Camilla took her home, Carlota was angry and insisted that she is the sister and should be the one caring for her. Paloma though timid at times shows more resistance to Carlota's control than Macarena. This is why she started the relationship with Emiliano.

PALOMA after getting over the infatuation with Emiliano( she uses to watch him and Romina through the window of her house) fell in love with Inaki. She was encouraged to date the young Iparraguirre by her Aunt Macarena and their housekeeper Rufina. With the kind of loneliness and loveless life her Aunts lived, she vows to marry and even ran away from home with Inaki. Both (Paloma and Inaki) pledged undying love to one another in the Church. Their elopement was ended with the accident they had and were rushed to the hospital. Carlota made a fuss over it and threatened court case but since they had not slept together, the case could not stand. Carlota started paying Acadia, the maid in Inaki's home for information about his movement with that of Paloma. When Carlota realised that she cant stop them she pretended to accept their marriage and invited Inaki to their home for pre-wedding celebration. Inaki's father, Alonzo did not support the marriage so he did come. Meanwhile Carlota went to buy the herbal tea that kills if used excessively and Acadia saw her. But before now, Inaki had Carlota investigated and got to know that she was lying about Paloma's inheritance. Unfortunately he did not tell others close to him his findings but Carlota overheard him talking on the phone about it. That further made her to resolve to kill him before he exposes her. Thatnight of the dinner party, Carlota made sure that she served Inaki personally and made him to drink the poison she made and by morning he was dead. Paloma woke up and got dressed for her wedding to the love of her life. Macarena gave her the special necklace Christobal gave her as a present. But alas, Inaki did not make it. He died from the poisonous brew of Carlota. Paloma was devastated. When Acadia heard of Inaki's death, she knew immediately that Carlota killed him. She knew she did not like him. In her greed, she decided to blackmail Carlota and she was also killed by her the night she went to collect the money. Inaki was confirmed dead of heart attack and Carlota convinced Carmen, the mother to have him buried without autopsy. Alonzo became inconsolable and blamed Paloma for his son's death. Paloma in her devastation and bewilderment, vow never to love again but Emiliano will not let her be since he's broken off with Romina.

On Paloma's side, is Aaron, Ines' Nephew. He was infatuated with Paloma and with her Fiance's death, started visiting to console and be close to her. Paloma appreciative of his friendship, allowed him to be close to her. Carlota seems okay with the relationship and encouraged it but Paloma was not interested in Aaron as a lover but just a friend. When Emiliano saw competition and despite Carlota hatred, lay claim to Paloma and they started going out secretly. But the manipulative and spoilt Romina who always get what she wants was not ready to let Emiliano go. She teamed up with Aaron to ensure that Paloma and Emiliano are not together. With the death of Inaki, Carlota stole the wedding ring and headed to Mexico City to reproduce a fake one. All of her intention is always to ensure that Macarena and Paloma stay under her domination financially and morally. At Mexico, she stayed in the same Hotel with Alonzo. Alonzo was back to work but decided to console himself with his Secretary. They went on a romantic tour outside the office and lodged in the same hotel with Alonzo. Alonzo sighted Carlota and harassed and accused her for killing his son. As usual, Carlota accused him of abandonment and not being there for his son during the last days of his life. Alonzo pestered her until she had to report him to the hotel management. in one of those encounters, the hotel manager witnessed it and had to make it up to Carlota by giving out Alonzo's home address. Carlota called Natalia and gave her details of where her husband was with another woman. Natalia came to the hotel and caught her husband cheating on her with another woman. Carlota was happy because that would distract Alonzo and stop him from harassing her. She had the ring copied and went back home. Alonzo came back home and asked for space to sort out his feelings. When he left, Natalia decided to come back to Real de Monte.

“The Name of Love” is a Mexican telenovela which highlights values and traditions of the country and how it affects the lives of the people, their feelings, emotions and motives. The story involves two sisters,

and Carlota Espinoza de los Monteros who both fell in love with the same man. Unfortunately for Carlota, the man only has eyes for Macarena.

The man is Father Cristobal Gamboa acted by Arturo Peniche. He fell in love with Macarena but Carlota the sister would not allow the lovers to be. She plotted the separation by lying to him that Macarena was dead. And to Macarena, Carlota told her Christobal was dead too. When their father died, she blamed her for his dead. Since she dominates and controls her, she forced Macaren to give up her daughter to “protect the family name” when it was found out that she was pregnant with Christobal's child and unmarried. Christobal felt guilty and turned to Alcohol to relieve the pains and agony of losing the love of his life. Afterwards, he met Natalie but could not go through with the marriage because of his undying love for Macarena so he stood her up at the altar. But later he made peace with God and himself. He dedicated his life to God and was ordained a Catholic Priest. Now a priest, he returns to Bernal after 20 years, only to discover that he was lied to by Carlota. Macarena was alive and single. Although Dr. Bemuda has proposed to Macarena, she has not accepted to marry him. Carlota saw Christobal first when she went for confession. She hurriedly ran out of the confession booth. She asked her lawyer to check him up because she thought he was dead when no one saw or heard from him in almost 20 years. Rufina saw Fr. Christobal too but hid from him.

The main Story of the telenovela is about Paloma Espinoza de los Monteros, the daughter of Macarena and Christobal who was born out of wedlock but was given to her uncle for adoption to preserve according to Carlota the "moral values and protect the family's name." When her parents died in a tragic accident, Paloma came back to live with her unmarried Aunts. She met a friend at school called Romina Mondragon and relationship began. A childlike trust in Paloma made her belief everything Romina says or does till their teenage years. When Emiliano Saenz Noriega came back from abroad where he studied, Romina's beauty and forwardness caught his attention and he began going out with her. He noticed the quiet sweet Paloma later but Romina would not allow that. So their first attraction to a man brought jealousies, envy and rivalry.

Then Inaki came on the scene and was smitten by Paloma's beauty and glow. A relationship blossoms and they pledged undying love to each other. By this time, Emiliano has realised how fickle minded Romina is and that he truly loves Paloma. Well Inaki his friend did not waste time so he became Paloma's boyfriend. Carlota the manipulative and wicked Aunt did not want that relationship to be. She has never found love and keeps fantasizing about Christobal so shes not happy with any family member finding love. So Paloma and Inaki hid their love from her.

Camila Rios acted by Actress Laura Flores. She is the mother of Romina and ex wife of Samuel the fraudstaer. She was Macarena's friend and confidant.

She is a strong woman who works very hard to give her daughter the best life and was too lenient with her. When she decided to get back into the dating game, she fell in love with the wrong man, (He was still married to Diana) Rafael Saenz acted by Alfredo Adame although Orlando Ferrer showed interest. She was smitten by Rafael's love instead of Orlando's.

Romina used her mother's feeling to her advantage. She exploited the situation to get close to Diana, Emiliano's mother. Meanwhile, Diana was the stay at home, nagging and scheming wife who constantly made her husband, Rafael's life miserable. On the other hand, Rafael Saenz, honest, hard-working and dedicated man who gave everything to make his family happy and well taken care of. Diana was not always happy. He got tired of his wife excessive demands and nagging and files for divorce. With the help of his partner, he got Camilla to invest in his Ceramic factory. Though he admires her, the closeness brought friendship which blossomed into love and affection.

Actor Víctor Cámara is the nice, honest, successful businessman who lives alone and unattached. He is Emiliano’s employer and has a great deal of love for him. He is always encouraging him to be the best. He is so attached without knowing that he is his son. Emiliano tells him all about his love for Paloma and the distress of his infatuation with Romina. He was too cautious with his love with Camila. If he had told her earlier that he loves her maybe she would not have fallen for Rafael.

In the name of Love is primarily about the love story of Paloma and Emiliano and other couples in the telenovela who are willing to defend their love yet keep it real.

EN NOMBRE DEL AMOR ( I n the Name of Love) is a Mexican telenovela that started showing in Nigeria few months ago. I keep planning to follow the story and blog it but so busy with other issues. The story centres around the ESPINOSA DE LOS MONTEROS family.

Paloma Espinosa de los Monteros is acted by Allisson Lozz, an actress and a musician in Mexico.

She is the daughter of Macarena who was given out at birth in order to save the honour of the family. Paloma is well behaved, beautiful and intelligent. unlike her friend, Romina, the wicked and manipulative vixen. With Macarena, she was confident, lively and daring but with Carlota, she's always scared, insecure and tearful. When her fiancé Iñaki died on the eve of their wedding, she believed that the Family was jinxed when it comes to love so she tried to stay away from men. Her only friend was Ines' Nephew who out of uncontrolled passion almost raped her.

Macarena Espinoza de los Monteros acted by Victoria Ruffo, the mother of Paloma and the sister of Carlota. So sickly and controlled by her sister Carlota. The secret of having a child out of wedlock and giving her away haunted her throughout. The fact that her sister Carlota convinced her that her father’s death was her fault made her guilty of all the calamity that has befallen their family. She never forgave herself and the pain of losing the man she loved made her sad always. Cristobal Gamboa acted by Arturo Peniche, is the Father of Paloma. 20 years before now, she and Macarena were an item and she became pregnant. But before she could tell him, Carlota lied to him that she had died and even made him come to the burial to see her being buried. Tormented by guilt, he became alcoholic and tried to forget her by being engaged to Natalie. This did not work so he dedicated his life to God and his fellow humans and became a Priest.

Carlota Espinoza de los Monteros acted by Leticia Calderón is the villian in this telenovela. She is wicked, manipulative, domineering and murderous. She deceived everyone by wearing frocks to cover her dark mind. The community believes she is a decent, God fearing woman not knowing she is devilish. She never wished happiness for anyone and was sickly in love with Christobal. Even when she know, he is a Priest, she was still plotting to derobe him and force him to love her.

Emiliano Saenz Noriega acted by Sebastian Zurita, He is the handsome son of Rafael Saenz although her real father is Orlando Ferrer. He fell in Love with Paloma but when his friend, Iñaki showed interest in her, he retreated. He is generous and kind. A man of honor and a true friend. When Inaki died, he became close and woo Paloma. Despite Carlota's dislike and Romina's scheming, his love for Paloma was sincere and deep.

DAY 57

Rebecca and Walter used the period and ransacked everywhere until they were able to open the door to the secret room. They were so excited like kiddies in a candy store. But the joy on their faces on accomplishing that soon evaporated when they saw that it was filled with nothing of importance. Going further inside the room, they found the Safe but it was locked and Walter did not know its combination. They agreed to come back and force it opened.
Isabel while reminiscing said that the beach house was not a paradise anymore but Vicky disagreed saying nothing has changed except her because she was sad. That she admitted was the truth. This was because Salvador her lover was recuperating.
The next day, Andre came to ask Salvador that was discussing with Vicky about the beaches and the house, if he was interested coming on a cruise with them and mocked him about the last experience. Salvador being a strong willed person accepted. Vicky said Salvador intrigued everyone. On the Yacht, Isabel was sun-bathing and Andre went to rub lotion on her but she slapped his hand away. He intuitively looked up and saw Salvador looking at them. Andre was angry but he cannot do anything. Where they docked to swim and picnic, he started drinking and fell asleep (was he drugged because Salvador was watching him when he poured the drink). Isabel and Salvador swam deep and far to go be together. It took him a whole day to wake up and he started screaming for Isabel. In the evening, Andre went to Isabel’s room and she walked out on him. Salvador went for a stroll by the beach and joined the locals in their dance by the sea side. The woman that attended to him was seductively dancing around him. Isabel showed up and Salvador abandoned the fun at the beach for the passion in the hut.
Gayetana’s Landlord accompanied by some people came to challenge her and a free for all fight ensued. All the customers scampered for safety. Gayetana felt bad that her reputation was ruined but was more worried that Salvador had not called.
Valeria and Angela discussing about love and Valeria confessed she had not gotten into a serious relationship before. Angela talked about her past affairs in Europe but confessed that Antonio is the only man that she loves and very much too.

DAY 55

Walter attacked Simon because of his closeness to Valeria. Simon called him old geezer and warned him to stay away from him. He and Valeria went into the garden to talk. Valeria finds Simon to be funny and entertaining.
Andre finally woke up from his drunken stupor to ask for his wife Isabel and he told that she went to town with the chauffer, Salvador. He was angry and decided to wait for them to come back. When Isabel came back, he dragged her into the room demanding explanation for her behaviour. She reminded him of the agreement not to be questioned as she was not answerable to him. Andre did not accept that because they have to behave as a happy and loving couple before people even though they cannot stand each other when alone. In the evening the workers in the beach house held a party for the couple but Isabel was not enjoying it so she excused herself and turned down the offer of a stroll on the beach claiming mosquitoes attack for her refusal. She went off to bed and relieved Salvador of duty but Andre ordered him to pour him a drink. He dutifully did it after all he came to serve.
The next day, Salvador took the servants’ kids for a drive in the mangrove. Vicky and the others were surprised at his knowledge of the beach house and the surrounding rivers and mangroves. Salvador said he was informed by Pedro. He could not tell them that he was Pedro. Andre listened on the conversation and told Isabel about it but she waved him off. To put Salvador to task, Andre took him for a cruise in the Yacht. In the middle of the sea, he talked him into visiting one of the islands around with him. Salvador agreed so he lowered one of the boats and entered but Andre did not joined him instead he asked that the rope tying the boat to the yacht be loosened. The driver was wondering why Andre instructed that the rope be loosened and complained but Andre asked him to go start the yacht and move away. Once this was done the waves moved the boat away and the engine that had been tampered with probably by Andre did not start so Salvador could not rowed towards them or saved himself. Andre was really happy that the sun would roast Salvador alive and he would have succeeded in getting rid of him. Salvador realized too late that Andre was not to be trusted and he wanted to kill him. The sun came down on his bare skin and he became dehydrated. He remembered Gayetana and Angela’s worry that he may not return and their warning that he should be careful. He suffered heat stroke.
Isabel suspected that something must have happened because it was getting late and they had not returned from their cruise. Isabel suspected that Andre may have done something evil to Salvador because when Vicky said the sea was dangerous for anyone to be out there this late; she said Andre was more dangerous.

DAY 56

Isabel and Vicky still looking out to the sea for Andre and Salvador and later retire to the beach house. Isabel later ordered the servants to go look for them. The two men set out and later ran back to inform them of their return. Isabel and the others ran out to welcome them and behold Salvador was being carried by the two men from the yacht to the house. He was in a bad shape. When Isabel asked what happened to him, Andre lied that he was not used to the sea and he unnecessarily exposed himself to the sun.
Simon and Valeria spending more time together. Their friendship is blossoming and this is a cause of concern for Rebecca who thinks Simon a mere maid’s servant cannot be good for the owner of the house’s cousin. Walter, the busy body advised her to nib whatever relationship existing between the two in the bud and not let what is happening between Antonio and Angela to happen to Valeria. Walter later went into Isabel’s room to steal jewelleries but the entrance of Rebecca stopped his evil adventure.
Vicky was attending to the sun burnt body of Salvador and Isabel wanted to take him to the hospital for medical attention but Andre stopped her claiming the beach house was far from the nearest town. In fact he wondered if he would have gotten the same sympathetic attention if he was the one that had the heatstroke but Isabel brushed him off. Vicky advised that a woman in that locality was experienced in the cure of heatstroke with herbs so Isabel went in search of the woman. The woman came immediately. Andre was happy that Salvador was suffering from the pains when the herbs were administered to his tender skin. Isabel left and Andre followed to her room really desiring her but she screamed him out of the room.
Back in Donoso’s mansion, Valeria was in the swimming pool. The transformation was so incredible that Antonio was admiring her. She looked astounding in d swimsuit. Before entering the house, Antonio saw Simon and informed him that Valeria was at pool. Simon that had bought a gift for her quickly went to keep her company and present the gift. Abigail brought a drink for Valeria and saw the son and she did not approve of such relationship. Afterwards the brothers went into the studio to look for the newspaper cutting that had Walter the klepto in it. While in the studio, they discussed Valeria but Simon refused all entreaties to stay away from her. The button to open the door of the secret room was discovered because they brought down all the books on that shelf but they did not enter.
Isabel went to caress Salvador’s back and Andre saw her. When eating Lunch he complained about it and she not able to stand his whining emptied the wine on him and left the dinning table.
Salvador had to take more than a week to heal.
